Potatopasty's Game Zone

info Game Description

Classic peg solitaire written for Pico-8. This version of the game has five board layouts. No timer, no hurry, no sounds... Enjoy some relaxing retro style puzzle solving!

The goal of the game is to remove as many pegs (or marbles) as possible, ideally leaving only one on the board. Game Play

1. Jumping Pegs:
A peg makes a valid move by jumping horizontally or vertically over an adjacent peg into an empty hole directly on the other side. Diagonal moves are not allowed.

2. Removing Pegs:
Once a peg has successfully jumped over another peg, the peg that was jumped over is removed from the board.

3. Continuing Play:
You may continue to make successive jumps with the same peg or with different pegs, as long as a valid move is available.

Ending the Game

The game ends when no further jumps can be made. The fewer pegs remaining on the board at the end of the game, the better. The perfect end game is to have only one peg remaining, ideally in the center hole where the game began.

Tips for Strategy

Plan your moves ahead. Try to anticipate where openings will be created that will allow you to make additional jumps. Work towards creating clusters of pegs that can jump over each other, rather than spreading pegs out too thinly across the board. It often helps to work from the outside in, keeping your options open for more jumps.

PS. Once again I resisted the urge to name this game "Pegging".

🕹️ Controls:

Gamplay has mouse and keyboard control, and touchscreens are also supported. However mouse cursor is always visible. Standard Pico-8 controls are 🅾️ = c-key, and ❎ = x-key on keyboard. ➡️⬅️⬆️⬇️ are arrow keys. Press Enter to pause the game and access the settings like reset, sound and volume.

This game can be played with both mouse and Pico-8 player 1 keys. Mouse is the default. If you play with mobile device with touchscreen support, you can use mouse mode for touch controls to move pegs.
